The Scapegoat finishes a retro remodel

A daily happy hour, a condo power outage and two later October plans.

The big story

The Scapegoat, a 30-seat bar at 100 Collins Ave., has a new room and menu eight years after opening. Bartender Tom Lasher-Walker and his team renovated the 635-square-foot space in-house. Hunter-green walls replace brown-black ones, standard-height wooden tables replace high-tops, and amber lighting and green tile complete the refresh. The menu includes a frozen Vesper and white Negroni. The bar’s announcement lists beers at $9–$14 and wine by the glass at $17. Happy hour runs daily from 5 to 8 p.m., with $12 cocktails.

Yardbird’s bankruptcy follows its South Beach closure

The Lenox Avenue original opened in 2011 and closed in August after 15 years. New Times reported Sept. 29 that the company filed for Chapter 11 in Delaware ahead of a potential sale, with roughly $25 million in secured debt. Its restaurants in Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Chicago are expected to keep operating during the process, according to the filings. A Brightwood affiliate is the initial bidder; any sale still needs bankruptcy court approval.

A Miami Beach condo outage began September 27

As of Tuesday night, Sept. 29, Sunshine Bay residents told NBC6 they had been without power since Sunday, Sept. 27. A management email shared with the station said FPL found a flood-cracked protective structure around an electrical line. Crews repaired it but found another issue, with an electrician due back Wednesday morning, Sept. 30. Water was still in the garage Tuesday night.
