Free vet care for dogs and cats, three days a week at Flamingo Park
Plus two free concerts this weekend: Roomful of Teeth at The Bass on Friday and an 80-voice gospel choir at the Bandshell on Sunday.
If your dog or cat is due for shots, there is now a free option in South Beach. Miami-Dade County Animal Services has parked its Wellness on Wheels truck behind the Flamingo Park basketball courts. It takes walk-ins Monday through Wednesday through December 23, so today and tomorrow are open days. The weekend brings two free concerts on opposite ends of the city. Both ask you to RSVP first.
The county's Wellness on Wheels truck is now parked behind the Flamingo Park basketball courts at 13th Street and Michigan Avenue. It offers free care for dogs and cats through Wednesday, December 23. The city arranged the service with Miami-Dade County Animal Services, and the city's announcement says it is for Miami Beach residents.
The truck takes walk-ins Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It closes for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. It will also be closed on Monday, October 12 for Columbus Day and Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans Day.
Both dogs and cats can get:

Dogs can also get the DHPP combination vaccine and cats can get the FVRCP combination vaccine, both at no charge.
The truck has served North Beach for several years. Commissioner Laura Dominguez said this is the first time the free services have come to South Beach.
Roomful of Teeth brings a free program to The Bass on Friday
The Grammy-winning vocal group Roomful of Teeth performs Friday, October 2 at The Bass, 2100 Collins Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. The performance starts at 7:30 and runs about an hour. Admission is free with an RSVP through the museum's event page. Capacity is limited and admission is first-come, first-served, so arriving early is the safer plan.
The main piece is Earths to Come, presented in part by the Miami arts group IlluminArts. It sets an eight-line Emily Dickinson love poem to original music by Inti Figgis-Vizueta, which the ensemble sings with spatialized sound. Rose Bond's painterly, pencil-drawn animation plays alongside it. The evening also includes works by Caroline Shaw, Leilehua Lanzilotti, Peter S. Shin and Angélica Negrón.
An 80-voice gospel choir fills the Bandshell on Sunday
The Florida Fellowship Super Choir brings its 80-voice choir and band to the Miami Beach Bandshell, 7275 Collins Ave., on Sunday, October 4. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6. The concert is free and open to all ages, but you need to RSVP through the Bandshell's event page. The Bandshell promises local and national surprise guests.
Minister Corey P. Edwards founded the choir in 2017. It draws singers, songwriters, directors and musicians from many denominations across Florida, and it won the How Sweet the Sound gospel choir competition in 2022. The show is part of the Miami Beach Arts in the Parks series, presented by the Rhythm Foundation with support from the city.
The venue is open-air under a canopy, and shows go on rain or shine. Outside food and drink are not allowed. The lot across the street at 73rd Street and Collins Avenue charges $2 an hour.
Produce and flowers on Lincoln Road Sunday, rain or shine
The Lincoln Road Farmer's Market sets up Sunday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Lincoln Road between Meridian and Washington avenues. Admission is free, and the market runs rain or shine. Local vendors sell fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut flowers, plants and more. The market is on Lincoln Road every Sunday, year-round.
