King tides put low streets on the weekend watch

Three city garages offer temporary flood-relief parking for eligible residents, but the free dates arrive in an activation email. With king tides predicted through September 13, check your address and registration before you need a space.
Low-lying streets can flood even without rain, and wind or storms can make conditions worse. Avoid driving through floodwater and report flooding to 305-673-7625.
If your address borders a low roadway marked on the city’s eligibility map, you can register for flood-relief parking. Registered residents receive an email when the program activates; free parking applies only during the dates in that notice, with spaces available first come, first served.
The designated garages are at 400 W. 42nd St., 1661 Pennsylvania Ave. and 200 Seventh St. For traffic alerts, text MBTraffic to 888777.
71st Street work can narrow the road after dark
FDOT’s construction windows on non-event days allow one eastbound lane to close from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, and one westbound lane from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Two eastbound lanes may close from midnight to 8 a.m. Daytime single-lane closures are also permitted from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. These windows describe when crews can close lanes, rather than a nightly closure schedule.
The $2.2 million project, from Bay Drive East to Collins Avenue, includes crosswalk markings, pedestrian signals and curb ramps, plus repaving and restriping. Construction began in July 2026 and is expected to finish in early 2027.
Bar Shishi plans a September 19 debut near Lincoln Road
A 12-seat bar and vinyl DJ booth are planned for the third floor of Class X by RIVANI. The Japanese-inspired lounge comes from the h.wood Group, which also operates Delilah and The Nice Guy, Time Out Miami reports.
Public hours are planned for Wednesday through Saturday, from 7 p.m. until close. Weekday afternoons, from noon to 5 p.m., will be reserved for RIVANI members and their guests. The menu includes hand rolls and chicken karaage; bar manager Kevin Lee’s Guava Kakigōri combines rum, guava, yuzu and shiso in a shaved-ice cocktail.
